My name is Emily Ruocco, and I am teaching fourth grade this year! In May 2014, I graduated from Roger Williams University with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and specialization in Marine Biology. After graduating, I worked at Webster Hill as a teaching assistant for the building. The following school year, I continued working at Webster Hill as a second grade teaching assistant. Beginning in February of that same school year, I taught fourth grade at Duffy Elementary School. I am very happy to be back at Webster Hill for my first official year of teaching!
I currently live in Cheshire, CT. I am very close with my parents and older sister. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, trips to the beach, running, soccer, and cooking. I am a big fan of the Food Network and the Cooking Channel!
I have my Bachelor of Arts in History from Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT. Following graduation I worked as a product analyst at the Travelers Insurance Company. During that time I realized that I missed coaching and tutoring children, so I went back to school to get my teaching certification. I have my Teaching Certification and Masters Degree of Arts in Elementary Reading & Language Arts from the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, CT.
I live in West Hartford with my wonderful husband who is also a teacher. We live with our dog Dawkins, an energetic, funny and active Catahoula hound. We love to hike and camp as a family. Some other fun facts about me are that I went to Webster Hill as a child. I enjoy swimming and running in my free time. I also love gardening and painting. I am also a big fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Philadelphia Eagles!
My name is Matt Downey and I am pleased to begin my teaching career at Webster Hill School in the same classroom I once had Jeff Wallowitz as a teacher! I graduated from CCSU with a BS in History/Elementary Education in December 2015 and will be returning to school soon for a Masters degree.
As well as being a math and language arts tutor and WHPS mentor, I have coached youth baseball and basketball, high school baseball, and spent 5 years volunteering at Webster Hill. During the summer I am a Camp Director for Chris Corkum’s Baseball Camp and the PM Care Director for YMCA Camp Chase in Burlington, CT.
In my free time I am usually reading, playing with my dog, fishing, or climbing mountains in NH or NY.
