Business Education
Mission
The mission of the Business Education program is to develop and provide the use of technology, business and economic concepts, and ethical principles essential for all persons. Business Education promotes the application of acquired skills to other disciplines and tasks, thus preparing students for employment and post-secondary educational pursuits in a changing global society. The Business Education curriculum prepares all students to live and work as productive citizens by providing essential business experiences, education, and training.
Goals
Business Education is a comprehensive, competency-based instructional program that enables students to:
- Function as financially literate citizens through the development of personal and business economic skills
- Understand and appreciate the interdependence of global market conditions
- Demonstrate interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills necessary to function in global business settings
- Integrate basic skills (reading, writing, communication, and technology) with higher-order skills (thinking, reasoning, problem-solving and decision-making)
- Develop habits, attitudes, ethics, and legal awareness of issues, which are necessary for success in both personal use and the work environment
- Develop career awareness, technological knowledge, and related skills to enable students to make viable career choices and become employable in a variety of business careers, facilitating the transition from school to career
- Connect high school experiences, including Tech Prep, in a manner that encourages post-secondary education and career opportunities
