We are fortunate that West Hartford families support outstanding educational opportunities for their children. Neighborhood elementary schools offer a positive learning environment and excellent academic instruction. Our two magnet elementary schools teach the comprehensive West Hartford curriculum, while enriching student instruction with inquiry-based models of teaching and learning that encourage every child to think creatively and independently.

The Florence E. Smith STEM School provides an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and math to enhance classroom learning. Charter Oak International Academy’s instruction and philosophy are based upon The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Primary Years Program.

You know your child best. If you feel a magnet school experience would cultivate their imagination and build on the talents and interests you already see in them, I encourage you to explore the magnet school choices we are proud to offer to West Hartford residents only.
