Flat Stanley's visit to Vermont Dear Ellis, Flat Stanley and I have had many adventures together. Flat Stanley went to Baldwinville, MA for Christmas. He met many people in my family including my mother, my cousins, and their children. On the way back to Vermont, Flat Stanley and I had an accident. Three deer were crossing the Route 30 down near Maple Valley and I hit one of them. Flat Stanley was very sad. He did, however, get to meet some very nice police officers. Back in Vermont, Flat Stanley and I snow shoed almost daily (weather
permitting). We went out looking for a moose. We saw many moose tracks, but
we were unable to find the moose. We snow shoed all the way to the Although we were unable to find the elusive moose, Flat Stanley and I found many deer tracks and followed them. Right near where you and Dad and I hiked when you were in Vermont over Christmas, I found a place where the deer had bedded down. Had we gone left instead of right when you were here, you would have seen them too. Guess what I found this morning?! Near the end of the driveway, close to the bridge over the stream there was a deer bed. I will have to keep a better eye out for the deer in my own yard. I am returning Flat Stanley to you to have adventures in Connecticut. Maybe he can come to Vermont with you this summer and hike to Spruce Peak or the cabin on the Appalachian Trail. Love, Uncle Joe |
