Today, Channel 61
Fox News came to Whiting Lane on Thursday, November 20, 2008 to
record the Kindergarten friends sharing their favorite
thanksgiving food! We don’t know when these little clips will
air but we’ll keep you posted!
Reporter Susan Christensen visited the classroom of
Mrs. Flammia to teach students how to write a news story.
Kindergarten students watched 2 news stories that Ms.
Christensen wrote and produced. Everyone got to feel how heavy
a microphone was and tell what they wanted to be when they grew
up! We are going to have a LOT of Pop Stars coming from
Whiting Lane. It was really inspiring to be given our own

Elementary was the First to Meet (and Exceed) our 10% Reduction
in Energy Consumption! |
|
Beginning Monday, November third, all sixteen West Hartford
schools will be competing to see how much energy we can
conserve. Ideas include teaching with reduced lighting,
turning off the computers overnight and when not in use, and
unplugging stereos and chargers when their not needed. For

Whiting Lane Reads with Sneed! |

Sneed B. Collard III, published and renowned author, visited
Whiting Lane Elementary school on Tuesday, October 21st.
He met with each grade, sharing his adventures from around the
world and helping the kids get inspired in their own writing. |

Students could even get their book
signed by the author. Mr. Collard also met with fifteen
students for a pizza lunch. Check out some of his
fascinating books from your local library! |
