Philosophy of PE: The primary focus of the elementary physical education program is to equip students with the fundamental skills, attitudes, and behaviors essential to safe, effective movement and participation in lifelong activity. This program will help students develop basic skills of efficient movement through a variety of activities common to lifelong fitness. Students will learn to create a quality lifestyle that encourages skill development, health-related fitness, cognitive concepts, social characteristics, and emotional development. What to wear for PE Class
Grades K-3 have PE 2 times a week for 30 minutes. Grades 4 and 5 have PE 2 times a week for 45 minutes. Connecticut Physical Education Standards: Physical activity is critical to the development and maintenance of good health. The goal of physical education is to develop physical educated individuals who have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to enjoy a life of healthful physical activity. The National and State standards are the basis for effective curriculum, instruction, and assessment. The questions help frame our work.
