The library media center is at the heart of Mary Louise Aiken Elementary School.  Here you will find over 15,000 books for all reading abilities.  Come in and find out about the Nutmeg Award books and discover the monthly book discussion group for those who have read or are reading the 2008 nominees.  There is a wonderful collection of Newbery Award winning books and this year you can join the challenge to read a decade’s worth of winning books.

Each year we weed out the oldest books, especially in the science topics, and replace them with up-to-date resources.  Because the curriculum is always being revised and revamped, it is important to keep up with the needs of the students.  Non fiction books at lower reading levels are available in many subjects.

Aiken library subscribes to 11 magazines for children and 7 professional journals.  In addition, there is a new shelf available for parent resources.  Stop in some time and look around the Aiken Library.
